Some Michigan tribal casinos to start reopening as early as Friday

June is Pride Month. That rage is morally righteous, but the violence and destruction is not. Accessibility help. But it must be channeled to build a better system of laws and a better society. I cannot thank our Health Center Team enough for the work they are doing to keep our community and our region safe. Coronavirus - Coronavirus. Call to schedule yours. This cause is righteous, both for our tribal people, and our country. Also, we cannot order new dumpsters over the weekend. Maloney and our Team administered 55 tests today, including 26 rapid results tests. Rather than cutting corners, and putting staff and guests at risk, we have opted to complete the installation of all of our equipment to ensure that we are operating as safely as possible. If others choose to attend, they should do so peacefully and safely from their car or social distancing on the sidewalk. If you choose to attend, demonstrate in peace and in prayer, and keep your words and actions positive. Wash your hands. We were working toward a Monday reopening, but were unable to secure the equipment needed to implement our safety procedures. We are going to do our best to provide the services we've always provided, but there will be some changes. Again, I want to thank each and every one of you for working so hard and making sacrificies to keep our people safe. Tomorrow, I will join others who have organized a peaceful demonstration of solidarity in Sault Ste. Employees will be reporting to work on Monday, unless they have a remote work agreement in place. Those guidelines are attached. We celebrate you. In addition, our seasonal dumpsters will be available starting Friday, May 29th through June 15th. The building will be limited to employees and tribal members who have an appointment for services. Bryan Newland 31 May at Most of the demonstrations across the United States have been peaceful calls for justice.{/INSERTKEYS}{/PARAGRAPH} Our team is still finalizing their safety protocols, and we will share plans with you soon. In the Upper Peninsula, there have been confirmed cases, and 15 people who died from this virus. Email or phone Password Forgotten account? Please try to plan ahead, as the dumpsters usually fill up on the last weekend. Bryan Newland shared a link. We've worked with our health team and the Chippewa County Health Department to get answers. Please do not wait until the last minute to dispose of your stuff, because we can't guarantee dumpster space the last weekend. We will conduct more tests tomorrow as well. To ensure social distancing, our staff will limit access to the dumpsters to one vehicle at a time. There may be times where people will have to wait for their turn. After the powwow, I was speaking with a younger tribal member who told me how moving it was to see the flag included in our pow wow: "This was the first time I've ever felt that our Tribe included me, and celebrated me," they told me. There is still a deadly pandemic going on, and we need to be mindful of the need to keep our people safe. With the Tribal Administration Building set to reopen on Monday, June 1st, we will be resuming some of our regular services - by appointment. Seasonal dumpsters are available to Reservation residents and tribal members. In the U. This morning, we met with Boys and Girls Club staff to get ready to offer services this summer. Not by a long shot. In Cheboygan, Emmet, and Otsego Counties there have been confirmed cases, with 13 people having died. We are awaiting the final results of our most recent round of testing here at Bay Mills this week. After watching a pandemic kill more than , Americans, and after watching violence across the country, many people desperately want things to "just go back to norm It is not enough to want things to just calm down. I will not be providing daily updates about our pandemic response moving forward, unless it reaches a point where we need to rapidly share information. Friends, I have been doing my best to bring you daily updates of the Tribe's activities and actions during this pandemic. As we are taking steps to slowly reopen offices and businesses, please remember that this pandemic is not over. Instead, I will share inf Make no mistake: this pandemic is not over. Sections of this page. Please be patient with us, and please do your best to make arrangements ahead of time. In Emmet, Cheboygan, and Otsego Counties, there have been confirmed cases, with 13 people having died. Wild Bluff Golf Course will be open to the public on Monday, and we encourage our guests to make tee times in advance. You are us. They will be open from 8 AM to 6 PM seven days per week. On that note, please continue to take precautions to keep yourself and your family safe. As with our other businesses, there will be some safety procedures that will make operations a little different. It is not enough to say it, and then go back to normal. {PARAGRAPH}{INSERTKEYS}We have partnered with one of the world's leading online gaming companies to bring internet gaming and sports betting to Michigan. Now, we are going to be one of the first tribes in the country to do it online. Also, please keep notes on where you go and who you meet in the event we have a positive case and our health team needs to engage in contact tracing. You can call to make arrangements with Andrea. Wait times may be a little longer. Hours of operation will be from AM to PM. Masks will be required in our buildings. There were no new cases to report in Emmet, Cheboygan, and Otsego Counties today. We ask for your patience, and for your kindness to our hardworking staff. People are tired of inequality under the law, and are enraged about the seemingly constant injustice and indignity that flows out of indifference toward the lives of people of color. Join group settings More. I will take my first test tomorrow at pm. Our tribal government will keep working hard to stay ahead of this, and to meet our three overarching goals right now: 1 protecting the public health; 2 protecting the health and well being of our team members; and, 3 protecting the Tribe's long-term economic well being. There is more love in this world than indifference. We have to build new things up, here at home and across the country. Chippewa County is continuing to hold strong with no new confirmed cases, as of today. This is the first gathering of more than a handful of people I will have attended since the last Brimley basketball game in early March. For our Two-Spirit relatives: We see you. Our Tribe is strongest when we acknowledge and honor all of our people. Tomorrow and Thursday, Bay Mills will administer tests for tribal members, tribal employees, and health center patients. While we are still working hard to confront the COVID outbreak, and prevent this disease from spreading in our community, the pace of developments has slowed down thankfully. AOT will also reopen to the public on Monday, June 1st. If you want to continue to stay on top of developments, you can follow Bay Mills News. Sign Up. While we have watched images of violence this week, and seen displays of selfish indifference during this pandemic, don't ever forget the millions of acts of love and compassion that do not make the news: The young people in our community who deliver food to elders every day; The people who make masks for others; Each of us who has stayed home on our rare warm summer evenings to keep others alive; Our young tribal members peacefully demonstrating allyship and solidarity with our Black friends in other cities; and, our officers who expressed their support. When that happens, we will have to close them early. Bay Mills was one of the first tribes in the country to operate casino gaming to support our tribal government. There is more love in this community than hate. Chippewa County reports no new cases as of today. Bryan Newland 3 June at Description: Coronavirus - Coronavirus. We must continue to do our part to stop this pandemic by distancing from one another, minimizing our social contacts, wearing masks, and washing our hands. Each of the rapid results tests came back negative - including my own. Wear your mask. Many of us are watching cities burn across the country. I'm so excited about this partnership, and what this means for our Tribe, our neighboring communities, and our Gaming Enterprise.
